It's been another solid month of work on Floe. We're nearing the full release in the next couple of weeks.
Alpha version released

We've just released Floe version 0.0.4-alpha. It's CLAP only for now, and there are known issues. But it should mostly work and be usable for playing around. Please give it a try, we'd love to find and fix any bugs. Use the 'Send Feedback' form on Floe's GUI, or post a reply here, or if you have a GitHub account, post issues. We want to hear from you.
- Requirements: CLAP host such as an up-to-date version of FL Studio, Reaper, Studio One or Bitwig.
- Download Floe alpha
- Download free Floe sample libraries (harp, xylophone, ocarina). If you already use Mirage, Floe will find your Mirage libraries and presets.
- Install the sample libraries
- Tell us about bugs or any other feedback - be aware of known issues
- Uninstall it if you need to
Website improvements
The website now contains pretty much everything you'd need to know about Floe such as packages, installing packages, developing sample libraries (including full information about the Lua functions), layers, autosave, and lots more.
Autosave
Floe now has an autosave feature. It's to help achieve our goal of being 100% reliable for professional work. If something crashes (hopefully never), you now have autosaves to load Floe back to a recent state. Read more about this feature on the Autosave webpage.
Support for sample libraries requiring attribution
Very occasionally, developers will license their sample libraries under an attribution-required license. This means you need to credit the creator of the sounds when you share your music. Floe makes this dead-easy. Read about the feature on the Attribution webpage
Error reporting
We want Floe to be 100% reliable. To help us achieve this we have some new error reporting features. These will aid debugging and troubleshooting hugely. When an error is detected in Floe, we send an anonymous report to our server so we are notified of the problem, and can fix it as soon as possible. You can disable this in the preferences. Read more about these features on the Error reporting webpage.
Uninstaller on Windows
On Windows, Floe is added to the 'Add and Remove Programs' list in Windows' settings. Making it easy to uninstall Floe using the standard method on Windows.
On macOS, we don't yet have an uninstaller program. But Floe can be removed by deleting a few files.
Read more of these features on the Uninstalling webpage.
Preferences
Under the surface, Floe's preferences system is greatly improved. Your preferences (window size, library folders, etc) are now correctly synchronised between instances of Floe, and the system is much more maintainable and expandable for us to add lots more customisation features for our users. Preferences are even editable using a text editor via a simple INI file — possibly useful for power users.
Free sample libraries
We've ported a few sample libraries for you to begin experimenting with Floe. These are: a high-quality multisampled Celtic harp ported from Versillian Studios' EtherealWinds Harp 2: Community Edition, and a simple xylophone and ocarina. Download these from the Available packages page.
And more
See the full list of changes under v0.0.3-alpha and v0.0.4-alpha on the Changelog webpage.
Next steps
Next, we're working on fixing bugs, improving the menu for picking instruments, and testing and releasing VST3 and AU versions.
